Rotation Frequency

SiliconView features 6 different 5-second advertising messages per screen (northbound and southbound) per minute. The electronic billboard cycles through one complete rotation, featuring 6 advertisers every 36 seconds, with one second of black between each ad. When traffic flows at 65 mph drivers move at speeds allowing them to see one full rotation. In peak traffic volume, the flow is significantly reduced resulting in increased exposure. This allows drivers to see up to 3-5 rotations or more.

Carrying the enormous load of traffic that moves daily between San Francisco and San Jose, Highway 101 is one of the most heavily traveled freeways in the U.S. Centrally located in San Carlos, 11 miles south of the San Francisco airport and 24 miles north of the San Jose airport, the electronic billboard sits sixty-one feet from the westside of the highway between the junctions of Whipple Avenue and Holly Street with no intervening “on” or “off” ramps. About “The Board”

The SiliconView Electronic Billboard is a two-sided, electronically controlled, outdoor LED display. Many compare its impact with a giant brilliant laptop or an HDTV screen the size of a semi-truck trailer. It is located directly next to busy Highway 101 in the heart of Silicon Valley between the San Francisco and San Jose airports. It stands almost 40 feet above the ground with an active area measuring approximately 34 feet wide and 19 feet high. SiliconView is highly visible from 2,900 feet away (northbound) to 3,500 feet away (southbound) and is located sixty-one feet from the west side of the highway. Silicon View is completely CalTrans approved.
